4th Meeting of Viet Nam-Laos Joint Committee for Border Markers Planting

The 4th Meeting of the Viet Nam-Laos Joint Committee for Border Markers Planting took place from Nov. 22-24 in the Lao capital city of Vientiane.

Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son, who is also Head of the National Boundary Commission and Chairman of the Viet Nam-Laos Joint Committee for Border Markers Planting, and Bounkeut Sangsomsack, Lao Deputy Foreign Minister, Head of the Lao Border Committee and Chairman of the Laos-Viet Nam Joint Committee for Border Markers Planting attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the planting of border markers in recent years and discussed measures to complete the marker system along the Viet Nam-Laos borderline by 2012.

The two sides’ representatives highly valued cooperative results between the two countries in 2011. This year, joint working teams have placed 489 markers.

On the occasion, the two sides signed a Framework Protocol on the borderline and  border markers between the two countries and a Regulation on describing the location, direction of the national border between Viet Nam and Laos to serve the compilation of a Protocol on the Viet Nam-Laos borderline and markers./.
