Google Maps misrepresents Viet Nam - China land boundary on its map service
(22/03/2010)

Concerning Viet Nam's reaction to the inaccurate representation of Viet Nam - China land boundary on Google Maps, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga on March 20th, 2010 responded to the media that:

"Google Maps misrepresents Viet Nam - China land boundary on its map service. Viet Nam asks that Google applies the present offical map of Viet Nam to fix the errors.

The Governments of Viet Nam and China signed the Protocol on demarcation of the land border, the Agreement on the land border management regime and the Agreement on land port and land port management regime on November 18th, 2009, the Viet Nam - China land boundary is thus clearly delineated and represented by specific coordinations. The two sides are preparing for their ratification in accordance with the respective laws of Viet Nam and China. As soon as Viet Nam - China land border treaty, signed in 1999, and other related documents come into effect, they will be officially registered with the United Nations and released to the mapping and map publishing organizations worldwide."
