Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam on his State visit to Viet Nam on Apr. 23.

President Truong Tan Sang held talks with his Singaporean counterpart, Tony Tan Keng Yam, in Ha Noi on April 23 immediately after an official welcome ceremony for the Singaporean guest, who was on a five-day state visit to Viet Nam.

The ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting (ADSOM), which was held on April 24 in Siem Reap, Cambodia, was an important preparation for the 6th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM-6) and ADSOM+. The Deputy-Defence Minister, Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Chi Vinh, led the Vietnamese defence delegation, attended the meeting.

A memorial ceremony to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the death of 64 Vietnamese sailors who died while protecting Truong Sa archipelago from foreign invasion was organised in Co Lin shoal in Truong Sa island district, in central Khanh Hoa province, on April 16. The ceremony was hosted by a working delegation from Khanh Hoa province, the northern provinces of Vinh Phuc and Dien Bien and Viet Nam News Agency.

A ceremony to mark the 37th anniversary of the liberation of the Truong Sa archipelago (April 29, 1975-April 29,2012) was held in Sinh Ton island commune, in Truong Sa island district, southern Khanh Hoa province on April 16.

The announcement by China’s National Oceanic Administration to implement “The national plan on island protection” seriously infringes upon Viet Nam’s sovereignty over these two archipelagoes, sovereign rights and national jurisdiction over its exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, violates the 1982 UNCLOS and contravenes the Declaration on the Conducts of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).
