The Ha Noi community of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ha Noi Children’s Palace on Nov. 27 held the awards ceremony for a painting contest on “Our Fatherland’s Sea and Islands” among children nationwide.

The contest was in response to the programme, “Youth journey for national seas and island 2011” organised by the Union with the aim of inspiring the sentiment and sense of responsibility of Vietnamese youths and children toward sea and islands sovereignty.
After three months of launching, the contest received 3,275 paintings of children aged 5- 15 from 20 cities and provinces across the country. Their paintings were diverse in forms and materials, demonstrating the children’s vivid perception and reflecting in an honest and interesting manner the scenery and lives of people and soldiers who are devoting their lives to protect the Fatherland’s sea and islands.
At the ceremony, 10 special, 20 A, 40 B and 70 C prizes were awarded to winners. Six team prizes were also given to the Ha Noi Children’s Palace, the Children’s House of Khanh Hoa province, the Viet Duc Children’s House in Nghe An province, the Hai Phong Children’s Palace, the Hue City Children’s House and the Vinh Long Cultural Centre./.
