The album ‘So close Truong Sa’ by popular singer Khanh Hoa has finally been released. This is the first one to be beautifully filmed in Truong Sa Island. The music not only underlines the singer’s feeling towards the island’s garrison but also depicts the diversity of music genre which is familiar and close to the soldiers’ daily lives.

In response to a programme to publicise Viet Nam’s waters and islands, northern Lao Cai province’s Department of Education has instructed all its schools to add in extra-curricular activities to stir student’s emotions and to raise their sense of responsibility for uniting in protecting the nation’s sovereignty over sacred waters and islands in a determined manner.

Located at Son Hong commune (Huong Son district), Border Post 565 has the responsibility of managing, protecting 15km of border line, five border markers and Son Hong locality. This is an area of rough mountainous terrain, where local people have a low level of education, economic development faces many difficulties while activities of criminals and hostile forces are taking place in an increasingly complicated and guileful way. Under the close leadership of the provincial Party Committee, the provincial border guard command and local Party committee and authorities, as well as with local people’s assistance over the past years, officers and soldiers at Border Post 565 have been exerting efforts to overcome all difficulties to firmly protect the country’s sovereignty and ensure security and social order along the border

Overseas Vietnamese in Australia have raised more than 12,000 AUD to support a programme to build a school in Truong Sa Lon island. The fund-raising campaigns have been organised in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney with the participation of former Vice President Truong Thi My Hoa, who is President of the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund.
