A mission of the General Staff, led by Major-General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, paid a nearly fortnight visit on April 1st to islands on the Southern Truong Sa archipelago and Platform DK1.
During the 13-day visit, the mission inspected the state and capacity in combat readiness, training, logistics, technology and construction of structures on each island. All troops and people on these islands and the platform hold firm to politics, feel secure in their jobs as well as believe in the leadership of the Party and State. Though confronting with various difficulties and severe weather, they have been active and responsible for defending the islands, promoting self-sufficiency, and consolidating defence-security. Besides, farming and animal husbandry have been developed to improve standards of living for troops and islanders.
The Major-General commended troops and people on their great efforts and asked them to promote their solidarity, raise vigilance, and take challenges in their stride to fulfill their assigned tasks.
The mission also participated in the 37th anniversary of the liberation of Truong Sa archipelago (April 29th) on Truong Sa Lon island and released garlands to commemorate martyrs who defended DK1 in Ba Ke area.
